Sail Croatia Day 1: Split → Drvenik
We set sail with a northerly to our backs and a plan to sail to Šolta. A thunderstorm hovered ominously above our initial destination and the wind direction flipped to a southerly, blowing the rain clouds straight at us.
So we diverted and sailed west seeking shelter behind Otočić Drvenik Veliki. On our way the wind picked up to 17 kts and we were doing 9 kts speed over land. As we rounded Drvenik the breeze subsided and we had a nice gentle cruise into the Solinska bay for the evening.
It was surprisingly busy for this time of year, probably eight other boats in this small bay. We managed to squeeze ourselves into the calmest spot near the beach. A little paranoid by close rocks and the boat was swinging a fair amount, but I had an anchor alarm set that helped calm the nerves because I could track it swinging in the expected area.
Lovely evening watching the sunset with Lucy and delicious Parma ham ravioli and cherry tomato sauce cooked on the boat for dinner. Tomorrow we set sail for Vis.
